Rationing

Another little gem from my recent searching - this little piece of paper is a bread rations ticket from 1918. Whilst the internees food needs were supplied by the Norwegian government, they were still restricted by the rationing that was imposed on the rest of country. Internees were rostered to assist in cooking and Arnold writes to Nurse in January 1918 “I want to thank you very much for the Christmas pudding. It was a huge success. I made some custard for it, and also a curry the same evening. No one was ill!”
